Saturday, July 12, 2025 - Jannik Sinner outclassed Novak Djokovic on Friday, July 11 in the Wimbledon semi-finals to set up a clash with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in Sunday’s final
The world number one is through to his fourth consecutive
Grand Slam title match and his first at Wimbledon — after a commanding
6-3, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Djokovic.
The 23-year-old will be eager to avenge his painful French
Open loss to world number two Alcaraz, where he squandered three championship
points in last month’s dramatic Roland Garros final.
Sinner and Alcaraz have firmly established themselves as the
new kings of men’s tennis, capturing the last six majors between them.
Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, appeared less than
fully fit and must now wait for another opportunity to secure a record 25th
Grand Slam title. This marks the first time since 2017 he has failed to reach
the Wimbledon final, leaving his quest to equal Roger Federer’s men’s record of
eight Wimbledon crowns on hold.
“It’s a tournament I always watched when I was young on
television, and I never imagined I could play here in the finals, so it’s
amazing,” Sinner said.
“From my side, I served very well, felt great on court, and
moved really well today. We saw in the third set that he was a bit injured.
He’s been in a very difficult situation, but I tried to stay calm and play the
best tennis I can.”
