Sunday, July 6, 2025 - The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, Liman Muhammad Baba, for allegedly killing his 80-year-old biological father, Malam Baba Siti, during a heated altercation.
The tragic incident was said to have occurred on Thursday at
about 10:30 p.m. in Uzum village, in Giade Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesman of the Command, SP Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the
incident in a photo interview
According to Wakil, the police in Giade Division received a
distress call from a resident, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Auwal
Sani Omolori, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Giade
to launch a discreet investigation.
“Detectives from the division promptly visited the scene and
found the victim lying in a pool of blood. Preliminary investigation revealed
that the suspect struck his father on the head with a stick, causing him to
collapse and die on the spot,” Wakil said.
The victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Giade,
where a medical doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.
It was gathered that during the altercation, Liman allegedly
hit his father with a stick, leading to his immediate collapse and loss of
consciousness.
Wakil added that the suspect was arrested at the scene and
remains in police custody.
He noted that a thorough investigation is ongoing and that
the suspect will be charged to court upon its conclusion.
