Thursday, July 17, 2025 - The Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka, has questioned the obsession of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar with becoming the President of Nigeria.
According to Olayinka, Atiku is behaving as if a doctor had
prescribed the presidency for him, and something would happen to him if he
doesn’t eventually emerge as Nigeria’s leader.
He described Atiku as the bad apple in the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP).
According to Naija News Olayinka raised fresh questions
about Atiku’s interest in the presidency while speaking on Thursday during an
interview on Channels Television.
He alleged that Atiku’s ambition to become president led him
to work against the PDP in Lagos State in 2003 as a sitting Vice President,
which opened the doors for anti-party activities within the party.
“The only thing that interests Alhaji Atiku
Abubakar is to become the President of Nigeria, and I’m beginning to wonder
whether a doctor prescribed ‘presidency’ for Atiku so that if he doesn’t become
president, something will happen to him,” Wike’s aide stated.
Olayinka’s submission comes hours after Atiku officially
announced on Wednesday that he has dumped the PDP.
Atiku communicated his decision to leave the main opposition
party in a letter to the PDP Chairman, Jada 1 ward, Jada LGA, Adamawa State.
However, Paul Ibe, the Media Adviser to Atiku, claimed
that the letter announcing Atiku’s resignation from the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) was not officially released but deliberately leaked by
individuals opposed to his political ambition.
Naija News reports that Ibe made the disclosure on
Wednesday night during an interview on Arise News, where he responded to
backlash surrounding the timing of Atiku’s exit from the PDP, just hours after
the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari
