Tuesday, June 3, 2025 - Former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, on Monday, alleged that people in the political class are fuelling Boko Haram in Nigeria.
According to Kalu, they are using terrorism as tools to
fight President Bola Tinubu just like they did during former President
Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
He spoke while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics
Today on Monday.
“The political class is behind Boko Haram. They are using
terrorism as a tool to fight Tinubu, just like they did with past
administrations,” Kalu said.
However, when asked to clarify who he referred to as the
“political class,” Kalu pointed fingers at politicians, top civil servants and
wealthy business people in Nigeria.
“People in the political class are the ones fuelling Boko
Haram. This is a political war,” Kalu added.
“Some of them aren’t after money, they are after power. They
want to tear down the system just to grab control, and that is not how power
should be acquired.
“The insecurity in Nigeria is politically induced. These
individuals, politicians, businessmen, civil servants are not just seeking
financial gain. They are looking to hijack political power,” he claimed.
This is coming after suspected Boko Haram terrorists planted
Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Guzamala Local Government of Borno
State, killing a total of nine people.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi, had
recently warned that Nigerians are currently living with Boko Haram and bandits.
Sanusi issued the warning during the 60th birthday ceremony
of former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
