Tennis star, COCO GAUFF makes history as first American Woman to win French Open in a decade (VIDEO)

Sunday, June 8, 2025 - Tennis star, Coco Gauff triumphed over Aryna Sabalenka in a thrilling final to claim her first French Open title and second Grand Slam crown, winning 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 in Paris on Saturday, June 7.

In a rematch of the 2023 U.S. Open final, Gauff once again got the better of Sabalenka, this time on the red clay of Roland Garros. The 21-year-old fought back after dropping a tightly contested first set, displaying resilience and brilliance to turn the match around.

With this victory, Gauff becomes the first American woman in a decade to win the French Open, a milestone that marks her continued rise in the world of tennis.

The win also served as redemption for her 2022 French Open final, where she was defeated in straight sets by Iga Swiatek.

Saturday’s match marked Sabalenka’s second consecutive Grand Slam final appearance this year. She previously fell to fellow American Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January.

Gauff’s emotional celebration and commanding performance further solidify her status as one of tennis' brightest stars.
