Sunday, June 8, 2025 - Just a day after celebrating Eid with his family, a secondary school teacher, Mallam Mohammed Abubakar Tayi, was found brutally murdered in his home in Mokwa, Niger State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June
7, 2025, at the teacher’s residence along Abattoir Road in Mokwa town.
According to local accounts, unknown assailants attacked
Mallam Mohammed in his home, killed him, and made away with his motorcycle.
Residents who saw him during the Eid celebration described
him as cheerful and in good health.
“He was full of life yesterday, celebrating with his family
and greeting neighbours. We woke up today to hear he’s been killed,” said a
grieving resident.
The late teacher was known for his service in the local
education sector, having taught at the Government Day Secondary School in
Kpege, which was later renamed Bokani Secondary School.
At the time of reporting, there has been no official
statement from security agencies regarding the murder, and no arrests have been
made.
