Thursday, June 5, 2025 - Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has announced a strict ban on photographs, recording of videos or raising any political or sectarian expressions at the main Hajj sites.
The ministry said the new rule is to protect the spiritual and peaceful nature
of the Hajj.
It warned that anyone caught breaking the rule will face
serious consequences.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the ministry said
pilgrims are not allowed to take photos or videos inside the two holy mosques,
Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah.
The ban also covers other important Hajj locations such as
Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah.
The statement also reminded pilgrims that the Hajj is a time
for worship, humility, and unity.
“Any conduct that goes against these values will not be
accepted. Pilgrims are strongly encouraged to adhere to the regulations and
cooperate fully with authorities to ensure that Hajj 2025 is conducted in a
peaceful, orderly, and spiritually enriching environment,” the statement added.
To enforce the rule, security officers will be present
throughout the pilgrimage period.
