Thursday, June 12, 2025 - Former Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole, has denied reports that he shut down the Zulu terminal at General Aviation Terminal GAT at the Lagos airport terminal after missing his flight to Abuja on Wednesday, June 11.
According to eyewitnesses, the Senator representing Edo
North in the Senate, had arrived the terminal at 6:10am to catch a Flight to
Abuja, scheduled to depart at 6:30 am. However, the boarding process was said
to have already been closed.
It is alleged that upon being told that he had missed his
flight, Oshiomole engaged the airline staff in a heated argument and went on to
block the terminal entrance, preventing other passengers from accessing the
departure hall.
However, in a chat with Arise TV, Oshiomole denied the
allegation. He said that despite arriving the airport at 6am, 30 minutes before
the flight and checking in his luggage online, the airline staff still marked
him and other passengers absent, insisting that the only way they could get on
the next flight was to pay an additional N109, 000 which he rejected.
According to him, the airline staff had tried to give him a
preferential treatment after finding out who he is but he insisted that the
same treatment offered to him, be offered to other aggrieved passengers.
The Former APC Chairman says his decision to enforce his
rights and that of others at the airport including women and children, made the
airline accuse him of disrupting its operations.
‘’When I got
to the airport, I had my checking in. They denied me. Then when somebody now
went inside and said it is Oshiomole, the senior manager then came out and said
‘oga, lets see how I can sort you out’. I said ‘No I don’t want personal
favours. I want my right and the right of these Nigerians to be enforced.
This people
pay N146, 000 at the time they bought, those who are buying emergence tickets
are paying as much as N250, 000. So they frustrate those who pay online at the
rate quoted by them and give priority to those who have no previous
reservation, who are ready to pay double the price.''
