Friday, June 6, 2025 - Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks on Buratai and Mallam Fatori in Borno State, killing numerous insurgents and recovering a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
In a statement released on Thursday,June 5, the Acting
Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for Operation Hadin Kai, Captain
Reuben Kovangiya, confirmed that the foiled attacks occurred on June 5, 2025.
He praised the combined efforts of ground troops and the operation’s air
component, which delivered overwhelming firepower to neutralize the threat.
“In yet another coordinated effort by the ground forces and
Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), scores of terrorists have been
neutralised, with assorted arms and ammunition recovered, in a foiled attack on
troops in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area and Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local
Government Areas of Borno State,” the statement read.
According to Captain Kovangiya, the terrorists attempted to
breach military positions in Buratai during the early hours, launching an
assault from multiple directions. Troops responded swiftly with intense
gunfire, while air support targeted the insurgents from above.
Multiple dead bodies of insurgents were discovered following
the confrontation. Among the recovered weapons were AK-47 rifles, General
Purpose Machine Guns, Rocket Propelled Grenades, and other combat gear used by
the terrorists.
He added that troops pursued fleeing militants, continuing
offensive operations to clear the area and reinforce military dominance. “The
coordinated efforts of the ground forces and Air Component demonstrate the
military’s commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action,” he said.
The Nigerian Army stated that operations in the region are
ongoing, with continued air surveillance and ground maneuvers aimed at
dismantling remaining terrorist elements.
