Monday, June 9, 2025 - Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has debunked rumours of any rift between him and President Bola Tinubu.
Last week, rumours were rife online about a crack in their
relationship after the President appeared to have snubbed Sanwo-Olu, during the
inauguration of Phase 1 of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Lagos on
Saturday, May 31.
In a video shared by the Special Assistant to the President
on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, President Tinubu, was seen entering the venue
as dignitaries stood to welcome him.
He proceeded to shake hands with Borno State Governor
Babagana Zulum, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, Cross River State Governor
Bassey Otu, and others but appeared to bypass Sanwo-Olu, who was visibly
waiting to greet him.
This sparked a debate online with some stating that the
seeming snub showed that all is not well between the President and the
governor.
Well, the governor and members of the Governors Advisory
Council of the APC in Lagos state today visited the President. While speaking
to newsmen after the meeting, the governor spoke to newsmen and dismissed the
subject of problems between him and the President. He stated that they are more
like father and son.
