Wednesday, May 7, 2025 - Peter Navarro, a top trade adviser to the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, took a swipe at Mike Pence, insisting that the former vice president squadared his political career.
Navarro took the jab at Pence on Tuesday when he appeared on
CNN’s “The Source with Kaitlan Collins” to discuss President Trump’s sweeping
tariff policy and the administration’s upcoming trade talks with China.
But the conversation took a quick turn when Collins brought
up Pence’s recent criticism of Trump’s tariff strategy.
Recall that Pence had on Monday expressed concern over
Trump’s approach to trade and tariffs.
The former VP warned that American consumers could soon feel
the repercussions of Trump’s economic strategy and demand for change.
However, Navarro was not pleased with Pence’s remarks.
Navarro said: “Mike, you know, I loved Mike during the first
term, but he really squandered his political career.
“Part of it was the fact that his chief of staff, somebody
who appears frequently here, Marc Short, got him on this free trade rather than
fair trade thing, and it’s been a downward spiral ever since,” he said.
Navarro added: “He’s been disowned by the entire MAGA
movement and the Republican Party.
“If you are telling me what you just told me, then his views
on trade are wrong,” he stated.
