Wednesday, May 14, 2025 - Nigerian artist, Orezi has given a candid account of why he disappeared from the music scene for a while. According to him, it wasn’t external forces — it was internal.
“I became less ambitious. Comfortable where I am. I took
myself out of the competition,” he said.
In a recent interview with Hip TV, the singer admitted that
the absence of drive affected his presence in the industry, and he contrasted
his attitude with that of Davido, praising the singer’s consistency and hustle.
“David dey hustle like say he never blow before. Money dey,
everything dey, but he keeps hustling. That’s the spirit.”
On the changing Afrobeats sound, Orezi shared his concern
that the genre is losing its core: dance
“We love to party; we love to dance. If you begin remove
that from Afrobeats and replace it with all this vibe-y vibe-y, you’re killing
Afrobeats.”
Now, back in 2025, Orezi says he’s fully returning to the
scene and ready to go head-to-head with any artist.
“I’ve been around. I’m back. Full force.” He said.
