Wednesday, May 21, 2025 - A yet-to-be-identified student who was on his way to write his West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) examination was today May 20 killed by a stray bullet allegedly fired by policemen chasing some young boys suspected to fraudsters aka Yahooboys in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
According to eyewitnesses, the stray bullet from the
policeman who shot at a moving vehicle being chased by a police team along
Gbagi Market Road in Ibadan, hit the innocent student on his father’s
motorcycle.
Sympathisers immediately rushed the student to Welfare
Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Angry protesters consequently
took the corpse of the victim to the State Secretariat to inform Governor Seyi
Makinde.
The state police command is yet to comment on this
development.
