Monday, May 19, 2025 - The Katsina State Police Command says its operatives have arrested four suspected drug traffickers in the state.
This was contained in a statement by the Command’s
spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, on Sunday in Katsina. Sadiq said the the suspects
were arrested at Kofar Guga Garage in Katsina metropolis, while attempting to
smuggle some illicit drugs to Maradi in neighbouring Niger Republic.
The suspects, according to him, are Aliyu Idris, m, age 23,
Abubakar Sa’idu, m, age 20, all of Kofar Kwaya as well as Abubakar Suleiman, m,
age 25 and Tajuddeen Umar, m, age 35, all of Sabuwar Unguwa, Katsina State.
The spokesman added that the suspects were arrested based on
credible intelligence on May 16th, 2025, at about 1400 hrs.
According to him, upon instant search, 5,000 pieces of Exol
tablets and four hundred and thirty (430) pieces of Tramadol tablets were
recovered in the suspects’ possession.
The police image maker said that the suspects had during
interrogation, confessed to the commission of the offence and further revealed
to have gotten the exhibits from a supplier simply identified as Abba, m, of
FCT Abuja, who is currently at large.
He explained that efforts are being intensified to ensure
the arrest of the supplier and bring him to justice.
“The Commissioner of Police Katsina State Command, CP Bello
Shehu, psc, fdc, MNIM, commends the operatives for a job well done and
reaffirms the command’s commitment towards combating drug-related offences in
the state as well as all other forms of crime and criminality.
“Furthermore, he called on members of the public to support
the crime-fighting efforts of the command by promptly reporting suspicious
activities to the command,” Sadiq stated.
