Monday, May 26, 2025 - The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two principal suspects responsible for the gruesome m8rder of a young woman in the Gangare area of Mile 12.
The deceased, from Nasarawa State, was k!lled and her body
set ablaze on May 24, 2025.
Spokesperson of the command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who
disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, May 25, said the deceased's
ex-boyfriend conspired with the suspects to k!ll her after failed attempt to
compel her back into the love relationship.
The PPRO dismissed speculations and other misinformation
circulating about the cause of the m8rder.
“The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two principal
suspects who participated in the dastardly act wherein a young lady who hailed
from Nasarawa State (name withheld) was tragically m8rdered in cold blood and
her body set ablaze on May 24, 2025, in the slum “GANGARE“ by the canal behind
Mile 12 Market area of Lagos State,” the statement read.
"Contrary to speculations circulating and other
misinformation about the cause of the murder of the deceased, it was found out
that the deceased was residing in the slum with her northern relatives, and her
exact profession remains unidentified at this time.
"Facts from preliminary investigation clearly revealed
that she is from Nasarawa State and not a Yoruba Woman. The protracted problem
between her and her boyfriend now at large, who wanted at all cost to compelled
her back into the love relationship after break up resulted in the boyfriend
conspiring with other suspects, two of whom are in police custody to round her
up, attack her, kill her in cold blood and set her body ablaze.
"The k!lling of the young lady in cold blood is clearly
a premeditated crime of conspiracy and cold blooded m8rder, which should be
condemned by all. There was no element of blasphemy by the victim before her
gruesome m8rder.
"Lagos State Police Command has taken swift actions by
promptly arresting two principal suspects involved in the dastardly act, while
investigation is being intensified to arrest the boyfriend and the other
suspects still at large.
"Two (2) suspects directly connected to the incident are
currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID),
where they are assisting the Police detectives and investigators in efforts to
arrest other perpetrators involved in the m8rder of the young lady.
"The Command hereby wishes to assure the public that
normalcy has been fully restored in the affected slum and other areas in Mile
12 area.
