Thursday, May 8, 2025 - Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi has addressed Nigerians who were quick to protest the state of the nation during the Goodluck Jonathan administration but have chosen to remain silent about the hardship many are currently going through.
While speaking at the night of tribute for late Niger Delta leader, Pa
Edwin Clarke, Obi said;
‘’I listened to my brother MIke
when he said ‘May the labors of our heroes past not be in vain’. I am happy
that General Gowon and Jonathan are here . I can tell you that there sacrifice
is in vain. They have sacrificed for nothing. We were in this country when
people were protesting when there was no need to under Jonathan. Where are
those protesters? Have they d!ed? Where are they? So why are we saying it
should not be in vain?
Jonathan increased fuel from N87
to N120 and people were protesting in this country and when it was N900,
they were not protesting. Are they de@d? So why are we saying it should not be
in vain? People protested when $1 was N180 and when it is now N1500, they are
not protesting. Are they de@d?
Let's face reality, there labor
is in vain.
We have a country now that is not
democratic. Let us tell ourselves the truth. It is vain so that can start
picking the piece of the things people have sacrificed for''
