Saturday, May 24, 2025 - Liverpool superstar, Mohamed Salah, received his 2025 Football Writers’ Association (FWA)
Footballer of the Year award on Thursday night
Salah secured the 2025 men’s honour after receiving 90 per
cent of the vote from the FWA’s 918 eligible members, making it the biggest
winning margin this century.
The Egyptian was recognised for his stunning form throughout
2024-25, which helped Liverpool become Premier League champions.
In all competitions, Salah has produced 33 goals and 23
assists to date from his 51 appearances.
His Reds teammate Virgil van Dijk finished second in the FWA
vote, ahead of Alexander Isak (Newcastle United) and Declan Rice (Arsenal).
“It means a lot to win this award, it’s incredible,” said
Salah at the event.
“I always feel special winning this award, something from
the writers is so special. And with that gap between you and the second, it’s
just incredible.
“Winning the Premier League and having that impact on the
team, I think I said before, I never felt that [much] happiness in the club,
that moment where we won the Premier League against Spurs. “
