Tuesday, May 27, 2025 -The Lagos State Government has announced a series of traffic diversions ahead of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) golden jubilee celebration scheduled to take place from May 27 to 29.
Bolanle Ogunlola, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the
State’s Ministry of Transportation, said the advisory aims to ensure smooth
traffic flow and bolster security around key venues, including NIIA House and
Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island.
President Bola Tinubu is expected to deliver a keynote
address at the event, highlighting the economic accomplishments of the regional
bloc.
According to the statement, motorists heading to Lagos
Island or the mainland from the Eko Hotel roundabout are advised to take
Adetokunbo Ademola Road to Civic Centre and then connect to Ozumba Mbadiwe
Road. From there, they should proceed to the Bonny Camp roundabout and turn
right towards their destination.
Alternatively, drivers can use the Falomo ramp near the Law
School for access to other parts of the city.
Those exiting Ajose Adeogun or Adetokunbo Ademola via the
Eko Hotel roundabout are advised to use Sanusi Fafunwa Street, continue to Akin
Adesola, and turn left at the junction to access Ahmadu Bello Way or Adeola
Odeku. A right turn at the same junction will lead to the Falomo Bridge or the
Law School route.
Motorists leaving the Lagos Continental Hotel en route to
Bonny Camp should take Kofo Abayomi and connect to Kilimanjaro Junction on
Ozumba Mbadiwe. From there, they can turn left to Bonny Camp or right towards
Lekki. Those approaching Kofo Abayomi from Bonny Camp are advised to turn right
at Kilimanjaro Junction to access the Lagos Continental Hotel.
Commuters coming from Independence or McEwen Bridge are
directed to turn left at the IMB Building on Ahmadu Bello Way by Atlantic City,
then connect to Akin Adesola and continue through inner streets to reach Eko
Hotel.
