Thursday, May 8, 2025 - The Kebbi State Amirul-Hajj for the 2025 Hajj exercise and Emir of Argungu, Sama’ila Muhammed Mera, has issued a stern warning to intending pilgrims not to carry illegal items in their luggage when traveling to Saudi Arabia.
The warning came shortly after a security meeting, chaired
by Mera, on Tuesday evening at the premises of the Pilgrims Welfare Agency
(PWA) in Birnin Kebbi.
Mera emphasized that anyone caught carrying illegal goods in
their bags would face arrest and prosecution by either Nigerian or Saudi
security forces.
He urged all pilgrims to comply with the travel regulations
to avoid complications during the pilgrimage.
He also announced that arrangements have been finalized to
begin the airlifting of the first 420 pilgrims on Friday, May 9, at Sir Ahmadu
Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi.
The Amirul-Hajj further advised the pilgrims to stay
informed and follow any updates from Hajj guides regarding flight schedules to
ensure a smooth and timely journey.
