Florida fast food worker fatally shoots customer during verbal dispute over missing mayonnaise packets’



Tuesday, May 27, 2025 -A Florida fast food employee allegedly shot a customer to de@th over missing mayonnaise in an order.

Elijah Travis Mackey, 23, was working at a Checkers restaurant on Wednesday night, May 21, when he "engaged in a verbal dispute with Wesley Robertson regarding his food order", according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. 

"The confrontation escalated, leading Elijah Mackey to shoot Wesley Robertson," stated the sheriff’s office on Facebook. 

Robertson was rushed to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he later d!ed of his injuries. 

The victim was picking up his order from the front drive-thru window of the restaurant on West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee when he got into an argument with a female employee and asked to speak with a manager, according to court documents obtained by WESH. 

A witness said Robertson asked for more mayonnaise packets with his order, an arrest warrant affidavit states. 

CCTV footage allegedly shows Mackey climbing out of the drive-thru widow and walking out to speak with Robertson. 



A witness said Robertson made a derogatory remark to Mackey, who is accused of pulling a handgun from his waistband and firing at the customer’s chest. 

Mackey fled the scene but was arrested shortly afterward when cops found him hiding at the Celebration Suites stairwell.

He has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder. He was booked into Osceola County Jail. 

"The actions of this one employee do not reflect the values of the thousands of our hardworking employees across the country," stated a Checkers spokesperson.

"We are working closely with the police in their investigation, and we are sending our thoughts and prayers to the guest’s family."
