Thursday, April 3, 2025 - A retired police officer, Charles Atideka, who allegedly k!lled three people, including two of his family members at Yovoyan community in the Badagry area of Lagos State, has committed suicide.
The incident linked to a long-standing land dispute occurred
at about 2am on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
The victims identified as Richard Atideka and Latevi
Atideka, both from the Yovoyan community and Muji Onilude from the neighbouring
Gberefu community, were allegedly sh0t d3ad by the ex-police officer and an
accomplice.
Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin
Hundeyin, who confirmed the development to Punch on Wednesday said the perpetrator went ahead to take
his own life after allegedly committing the act.
According to Hundeyin, the ex-police officer allegedly took
a poisonous substance, became unconscious and was later rushed to the hospital
where he was confirmed d3ad.
“The man who is the suspect in the incident is dead. He
k!lled three people and allegedly took poison after committing the act. He was
thereafter rushed to the hospital, where the doctor confirmed him d3ad. His
corpse and those of whom he killed have been deposited in the morgue.”
The PPRO added that the case had been transferred to the
State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
