Sunday, April 6, 2025 - Mexican actor Manuel Masalva, widely recognized for his portrayal of Ramón Arellano Félix in Narcos: Mexico, is currently in a medically induced coma due to a serious infection, fellow actor Mario Morán revealed on Thursday.
In a video posted on TikTok, Morán explained that Masalva
contracted a “very aggressive virus” while on vacation. He did not specify the
location of the trip but said the situation remains “delicate.” Masalva was
hospitalized and placed in a coma as doctors continue to monitor his condition.
“He’s fighting, and we’re hoping for the best,” Morán said
in Spanish, urging fans to support the actor and keep him in their thoughts. A
GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist with medical expenses, as Masalva
is believed to still be abroad.
Masalva gained international recognition for his role
in Narcos: Mexico, where he portrayed one of the co-founders of the
Tijuana Cartel, who was killed in a 2002 shootout. Beyond the hit Netflix
series, Masalva has starred in a variety of television productions,
including La Guzmán, Mi corazón es Tuyo, and the
LGBTQ+-themed show Tengo que morir todas las noches.
