Wednesday, April 30, 2025 - Oba Sejiro James, the traditional ruler of Kwenme Kingdom in Badagry, has called on his daughter, Princess Damilola James, to withdraw from the forthcoming local government elections in the spirit of equity and fairness.
The monarch made the appeal not only to his daughter but
also to other aspirants from Ward A, his home ward, urging them to step aside
to uphold a sense of balance in the political representation within Badagry
West Local Council Development Area, LCDA.
Princess Damilola, considered a leading contender for the
chairmanship seat, received the counsel following a recent visit to the palace
by fellow aspirant, Princess Oluremi Ajose, daughter of Oba Oyekan Ajose Possi
III.
During the visit, Princess Oluremi sought royal blessings
for her political ambition.
Oba Sejiro explained that the collective decision by
traditional rulers to support Princess Oluremi was grounded in a shared
commitment to justice among the five wards in the LCDA.
“My endorsement and that of other royal fathers is not based
on personal preference. It is anchored on fairness,” Oba Sejiro said.
