Wednesday, April 16, 2025 - A 42-year-old herbalist, Adepoju Ifaleke, on Tuesday, appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrate’s Court in Oyo State for allegedly exhuming a dead body and interfering with the corpse.
Ifaleke is standing trial on one count of indecently
interfering with a dead body.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Owolabi told the court that the
defendant committed the offence on April 9, at about 6.00 a.m. at Komu Agate
Mining Camp, Komu, Iseyin in Oyo State.
Owolabi alleged that the defendant indecently interfered
with a human corpse by exhuming it and removing some bones and hair, leading to
his arrest.
He said the offence contravened Section 242 (1) (b) of the
Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Miss G.I. Oladele admitted the defendant to
bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Oladele, thereafter, adjourned the case until May 12 for a
hearing.
