Thursday, April 10, 2025 - Former President, Muhammadu Buhari has called on governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) to embrace a leadership style centered on the needs and welfare of the people. Speaking at a meeting with the Progressive Governors Forum in Kaduna, Buhari described leadership as both a challenge and an opportunity, urging the governors to strike a balance for national progress.
In his remarks conveyed by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu,
Buhari expressed satisfaction with the performance of the APC governors and
encouraged them to remain committed to Nigeria’s development. He stressed the
importance of integrity in public service, noting that he left office in 2023
with the same personal assets he had when he became president in 2015.
He also thanked President Bola Tinubu’s administration for
renovating his Kaduna home, noting that while the exterior remains familiar,
significant improvements had been made inside.
The meeting, led by the Chairman of the Progressive
Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, was part of Eid-el-Fitr
celebrations. Uzodinma commended Buhari for his enduring influence on the party
and for setting a high standard of governance and peaceful power transition.
He highlighted key achievements of Buhari’s tenure,
including infrastructure development, social welfare programs, and security
gains and praised his continued support for President Tinubu’s administration.
The governors acknowledged Buhari’s role in the formation of
the APC and reaffirmed their respect and appreciation for his leadership and
legacy.
