Friday, April 25, 2025 - The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 13 suspects in connection with the d3ath of an 18-year-old girl in Misau town in Misau Local Government Area of the State.
The spokesperson of the command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil,
who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, April 24, 2025 said the suspects
had s3xual intercourse with the deceased and when she became pregnant, two of
them procured abortion for her, leading to her d3ath.
“On 04/04/2025 at about 0900hrs, information received from a
reliable source revealed that sometimes about four (4) months ago, the
following suspects, namely; Usman Umar 'm,' aged 22,s of Fawari area of Misau,
Sallau Ayuba 'm' aged 21 years of Lariski area of Misau and Abubakar Mohammed
'm', aged 35yrs of area Misau, a year two student of A.D Rufai College for
Islamic and Legal Studies,” the statement read.
"The first and the second defendants lured one female
(name withheld) aged 18 years of the same address. They had s3xual intercourse
with her on different occasions at different places, including Mahmood Lodge,
situated within Misau town, which resulted in the impregnation of the victim
and, on noticing the pregnancy, the two (2) defendants invited the third
defendant (Abubakar Mohammed,).
"They offered him forty thousand naira (40,000) to
inject the pregnant victim and cause an abortion. After the injection, the
victim lost herself and became seriously sick, which caused the victim's family
to take her to the General Hospital Misau.
"She was later referred to the Federal Medical Centre
(FMC) Azare for further medical treatment. Subsequently, she was announced and
certified d3ad by the hospital authorities while receiving treatment.
"On receipt of the report, the suspects were arrested
and confessed to their inglorious act and mentioned other accomplices who are
in connection with the case, namely; Alkali Kawu, Maule Mai ride, Mai tomatoes,
Danguli, Yakubu. Kura is a civil servant, and four (4) others are under
investigation at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Misau.
"The Command reaffirms its commitment and steadfastness
in carrying out its statutory responsibility to ensure justice is served
accordingly. Investigation is ongoing. After that, the suspects will be
profiled and charged to court for the established offences accordingly.”
