Thursday, March 13, 2025 - Former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has slammed Northern leaders that recently shut down schools to enable children participate in the ongoing Ramadan fasting.
The controversial policy being implemented in Bauchi, Katsina, Kebbi,
and Kano States has attracted condemnation from several concerned citizens.
Wading into the matter, Sowore, a popular Nigerian activist, said those
implementing the policy have their children schooling abroad.
He alleged that some of the northern leaders have their children and
wards in “high-end private schools in Abuja, supported by funds” designated for
the poor citizens.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Sowore said, “Those ignoramuses
who decided to shut down schools during Ramadan Fasting do not have their own
children enrolled in these economically disadvantaged public schools.
“Their children or wards attend schools overseas or high-end private
schools in Abuja, supported by funds designated for the education of
socioeconomically challenged students (the poor) in these run down schools,
which do not close for Ramadan Fasting. Irresponsible and wicked leaders.”
