Wednesday, March 5, 2025 - Armed bandits carried out coordinated attacks on three neighboring communities in Katsina State on Monday night, killing several people and rustling a large number of cattle.
The affected communities; Kunduru, Kirtawa, and Farfaru were raided in a
series of violent assaults.
The attacks were first reported by security analyst Bakatsine in a post
on his official X handle on Tuesday.
“Yesterday night, bandits coordinated three attacks in three
neighbouring communities where they killed several people and rustled a large
number of cattles. The communities are: Kunduru, Kirtawa and Farfaru,” he
wrote.
Another security analyst, Zagazola Makama, also confirmed the incident
in a separate post, detailing the extent of the devastation.
According to Makama, the attacks occurred late at night, with heavily
armed gunmen storming the villages, shooting indiscriminately, and carting away
livestock.
“The bandits struck in coordinated assaults, leaving multiple casualties
and displacing residents,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, in a separate attack in the same region, bandits invaded
Unguwar Dogo, a village in Kunduru District, Kankia Local Government Area,
killing two people and injuring another before fleeing.
Security sources revealed that the attack happened around 9:30 p.m. on
Monday, March 3.
“Upon receiving the distress call, troops quickly mobilized a patrol
team and local vigilantes to respond,” an intelligence source told Makama.
“Unfortunately, by the time security operatives arrived, the attackers
had already killed two individuals and injured another before escaping into the
surrounding forest.”
The victims were taken to General Hospital, Kankia, where the two
deceased were confirmed dead, while the injured victim is currently receiving
treatment.
Security forces have since intensified efforts to track down the
assailants, with increased patrols and surveillance in the affected areas to
prevent further attacks.
