Tuesday, March 4, 2025 - The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully intercepted and recovered a stolen Lexus SUV following a robbery and kidnapping incident reported in Kurudu, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations
Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the operation was initiated after a distress call
was received at approximately 03:53 hours on March 3, 2025, by the Commissioner
of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed.
Intelligence indicated that the suspects were heading along the
Keffi-Akwanga Road.
“Acting swiftly, the Commissioner directed the Garaku Divisional Police
Officer (DPO) and his team to establish a checkpoint at Tollgate.
“Within minutes, a white Lexus Jeep with registration number ABJ 107 DX,
matching the stolen vehicle’s description, approached. Upon spotting the
police, the suspects attempted to escape by reversing the vehicle.
“In response, officers swiftly disabled the vehicle’s tires, forcing the
criminals to abandon the car and flee into a nearby bush,” the statement reads.
He added that despite an immediate pursuit, the suspects evaded capture.
However, the stolen vehicle was successfully recovered and is now secured at
the police station for further investigation.
Further updates from the FCT Police Command confirmed that the kidnapped
victim, a woman, had been abandoned by the kidnappers within the FCT before
they fled with her vehicle. She has since been safely located and is receiving
support.
The police assure the public that the area remains calm, and efforts are
ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious
activities to the nearest police station.
