Man arraigned in Ibadan court for handling stolen vehicles



Wednesday, March 12, 2025 - A Magistrate’s court in Ibadan, on Tueday, docked a 48-year-old man for allegedly receiving stolen cars.

The defendant, identified as Segun Soyemi, was charged with receiving stolen property, to which he pleaded not guilty.

However, the Prosecutor, Insp Olagoke Adegbenro told the court that the defendant committed the offense in September 2024 at Moniya area, Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant received an unregistered Toyota Camry worth N1.5 million, and another Toyota Camry worth N2.5 million, stolen from one Babatunde Olaniyan.

Adegbenro said Segun received the cars from Muritala Akinniyi knowing fully well that they were stolen.

According to him, the offense contravened Section 427 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until April, 8th
