Saturday, March 1, 2025 - The wife of the Senate President, Ekaette Akpabio, has dismissed allegations of sexual harassment leveled against her husband by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In an interview with Arise TV this morning, Senator Natasha alleged that
she had been maligned several times by the Senate President because she
rejected his sexual advances at her.
She claimed that several motions she has pushed for have been sidelined
because she refused to give into Akpabio's alleged advances.
However, speaking to newsmen on Friday at her Abuja residence, Mrs
Akpabio dismissed Senator Natasha’s allegations.
According to Mrs Akpabio, her family and Natasha’s are cordial which
make her wonder why Natasha's husband never reacted after the alleged sexual
harassment in Akwa Ibom.
‘’It is an unfortunate accusation. It is very demeaning because that is
a family..we knew the husband before he married her, We have always known the
man. They are still very good friends. I really don't understand where this is
coming from and I believe for somebody to make such an allegation, here must be
a discussioon at home, a sanction or an approval and if the approval has come
from the husband, our friend, I believe he would have spoken to me because when
we are close. And if the wife had complained about such a thing and he still
comes and he acts normal…..there is no man the wife will tell ‘’Oh, your friend
harassed me' that will not frown. First of all, the attitude towards the person
will change but his attitude never changed''
Mrs. Akpabio praised her husband as a man who loves and respects his
family, citing his track record of supporting women’s inclusion in government
even before his emergence as Senate President.
‘'The Senate President is a very very responsible man and disciplined.''
