Sunday, March 30, 2025 - The Gombe State Police Command has apprehended seven individuals for various criminal activities, including armed robbery and motorcycle theft, as part of its ongoing efforts to curb crime in the state.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public
Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, two suspects, Daniel Hamma (36) and
Garba Usman, also known as Mali (32), were arrested for criminal conspiracy,
armed robbery, and attempted culpable homicide.
The arrests followed a distress call received on March 26
regarding an armed robbery near the High Court Complex on Bypass Road, Gombe.
The suspects allegedly attacked a victim, Hamza Billa (28), inflicting serious
injuries before stealing his red Boxer motorcycle. A police patrol team
responded swiftly, leading to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of
the stolen motorcycle.
Further investigations led to the discovery of another
blood-stained motorcycle, spare parts, and police accouterments at the
residence of one of the suspects. Both individuals later confessed to multiple
robbery incidents at the same location.
In a separate operation, Abubakar Mohammed of Lafia-Talle
Village was arrested at Kurugu Market with an unregistered motorcycle and a
fabricated master key, suspected to be linked to motorcycle theft.
Additionally, security operatives raided the residence of
Gambo Isah in Jaja Village, where he attempted to resist arrest with an AK-47
rifle. In the ensuing gun duel, Isah was shot and later died at the hospital.
Authorities recovered the rifle, ammunition, and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle from
his home.
The police commended residents for their cooperation and
urged the public to remain vigilant, reporting suspicious activities to law
enforcement authorities.
