Thursday, February 6, 2025 - Unknown gunmen have killed one person and kidnapped five persons in Binawa community, Kauru local government area of Kaduna State.
The Binawa Community Development Association, BIDA, National President
and National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Istifanus Danjuma Makoshi and Comrade
Garba Victor Binawa, respectively, in a statement condemned the attack in the
community in strong terms, describing it as barbaric.
According to the statement, “The incident occurred in the early hours of
Wednesday. This tragic incident, perpetrated by unknown gunmen, has led to the
killing of one innocent person, the kidnapping of five community members, and
left many others in fear and distress.”
The statement further explained that Mr. Mani Ali Maikomo was brutally
killed, while the five persons abducted are Mr. Dauda Danjuma Makoshi, Mrs.
Kande Dauda Makoshi, Village Head Mazuga Sale, Paul Musa Gombe and Solomon
Jonah Dangata Binawa (who escaped with injuries).
The community observed that the act of violence was not just an attack
on the victims and their families but on the peace and stability of the entire
Binawa community and called on the Kaduna State Government, security agencies,
and all relevant authorities to take urgent and decisive action to secure the
immediate and safe release of those abducted.
The statement appealed to authorities to ensure that the perpetrators of
the “heinous crime” are brought to justice, while suggesting more security
presence in Binawa and other vulnerable communities to prevent further attacks.
“The frequency of attacks in Kauru LGA is deeply concerning, and we
demand a stronger commitment from the government to protect lives and
property,” the statement requested.
