Saturday, February 22, 2025 - The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a seven-hour power outage for some areas in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). According to a statement from TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the outage will occur on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.
The scheduled outage is due to annual preventive maintenance on two
transformers at the Apo 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja. Mbah
explained that the maintenance would involve the 2x100MVA, TR3 & TR4
transformers, and during this period, the Abuja Electricity Distribution
Company (Abuja DisCo) will be unable to receive bulk power supply from these
transformers.
The planned power disruptions will impact several areas, including the
National Hospital, G2 Injection Station, Garki, Area 1, and Asokoro. Other
affected locations include Apo Legislative Quarters, Apo Resettlement, Gudu,
Apo Mechanic, and surrounding neighborhoods.
TCN emphasized that the interruption is necessary for the maintenance
process and assured customers that power supply will be restored after the
maintenance is completed. The company also apologized for any inconvenience
caused to affected residents and businesses.
