Monday, February 10, 2025 - Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, is preparing to carry out a mass clear out of players this summer.
Arteta is looking to bring in at least four top signings, in a bid to
finally land the Premier League title.
The Gunners are facing the prospect of another trophyless campaign,
following their exits from the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, while their Premier
League hopes are fading.
Arteta’s side trails Liverpool by six points in the title race, and that
could become nine if Arne Slot’s men beat Everton on Wednesday.
There is still a chance they could win the Champions League but club
legend Paul Merson is doubtful of that following their woeful performance at
Newcastle last week.
As such, Arteta is looking to strengthen his team in a number of areas
in the summer.
According to the Mirror, the Spaniard has already sanctioned the
departure of seven first-team players.
Raheem Sterling and Neto will not remain at the Emirates after their
loan spells from Chelsea and Bournemouth end.
Sterling has scored just one goal in 18 games while Neto has only made
one appearance.
Thomas Partey, Jorginho and Kieran Tierney are all out of contract and
will leave Arsenal as free agents.
Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior are also viewed as surplus to
requirements, having started a combined four league games this season.
While the departure of the seven players may not raise significant transfer funds, it will certainly free up space on the wage bill as Arteta eyes a new striker, defensive midfielder and goalkeeper.
