4 illegal immigrants from Cameroon and Chad arrested in Ogun

Friday, February 14, 2025 - The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps codenamed So-Safe Corps, has arrested four nationals of Cameroon and Chad for entering the state illegally.

The suspects, identified as Dorooumouna Brosia, a 23-year-old Cameroonian and leader of the group; Hassan Bukhari, a Cameroonian; Saleh Sinine Sakhair, a 27-year-old Chadian; and Mahamat Moudaina, a 23-year-old Chadian and brother to Saleh, were arrested at about 8:00 am on Thursday, February 13, 2025. 

The Commander of So-Safe Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo, who confirmed this in a statement in Abeokuta through the office of the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr Moruf Yusuf, said the arrest followed an intelligence received by the operatives.

According to Ganzallo, the Cameroonian and Chadian nationals had already boarded a taxi heading to Lafenwa, Abeokuta, before they were apprehended.

On interrogation, the suspects confessed that two of them, both Cameroonians, had been in Ibadan for over four months, awaiting the arrival of their counterparts from Chad.

The commander disclosed that a Chadian national named Hassan Seid, a resident of Ibadan who had been living and working in Lafenwa,, invited and directed them to proceed to Ogun State.

“At about 0800hrs on February 13, 2025, the state operations team received intelligence that some Cameroonian and Chadian nationals had boarded a taxi heading to Lafenwa, Abeokuta,” he said. 

"The team immediately swung into action, traced the suspects to Lafenwa, and apprehended them unhurt before they could alight from the vehicle.

"On interrogation they revealed that a Chadian national named Hassan Seid, a resident of Ibadan who had been living and working in Lafenwa, invited and directed them to proceed to Ogun State. They claimed they were there to work and improve their English language skills while conducting business.”

Ganzallo maintained that undocumented migrants might engage in criminal activities and illegal entry into the state could pose threats to national security, public safety, and health.

He added that the apprehended illegal immigrants had been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ogun State Command, for further investigation and possible repatriation.
