Wednesday, February 12, 2025 - A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, remanded two brothers, Clement Francis and Richard Francis, in a correctional centre over alleged armed robbery.
Clement, 35, and Richard, 33, both residing at Kabala West, Kaduna, are
being charged with conspiracy, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of arms.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendants
committed the offences at about 7:00 p.m. on Feb. 2, along Air Force Technical
School, Kaduna.
Leo said that Clement and Richard used arms to rob the complainant, Mr.
Edward Samuel, of his Toyota car valued at N2.8 million.
He stated that Samuel was on his way home when the defendants and their
accomplices snatched his car from him.
“They rode on a motorcycle and deliberately hit the car from behind to
make him stop.
“When the complainant stopped the car engine to see the damage done,
they pointed a gun at him and snatched his car,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said that the case was reported at Rigachikun Police
Station before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department
for further investigation.
He added that during interrogation, the defendants confessed to
committing the crime.
Leo stated that the offences contravened Sections 6(b) and 1(a)(b) of
the Robbery and Firearms Act, 2004.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, who did not take the plea of the
defendants, ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public
Prosecutions for legal advice.
He adjourned the case until March 26 for mention.
