Wednesday, January 22, 2025 - The Sokoto Police Command has arrested Musbahu Auwal, a security guard at the National Broadcasting Commission’s Zonal Office in Sokoto, for allegedly conspiring with others to steal office materials and equipment.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad
Rufai.
According to the statement, on January 17, 2025, at about 2:50 PM, Ladan
Muhammad, the Zonal Director of the National Broadcasting Commission in Sokoto,
reported a theft at the Uguwar Rogo Police Station.
He stated that unknown persons had stolen items from the Commission’s
office in the Gagi area of Sokoto.
Following the report, police officers, led by the Divisional Crime
Officer (DCO), visited the scene and confirmed that several items were missing.
These included a three-kilovolt inverter, three 600-kilovolt inverter
batteries, a fridge compressor, a brand-new tyre for an office bus, and a
32-inch LG television.
During the investigation, Musbahu Auwal was invited for questioning. He
confessed to conspiring with one Ismaila Ahmad from the Nakasare area to steal
the items. Further inquiries led to the arrest of Yahuza Tukur and Abdulrahman
Abbas, both from the Nakasare area, for helping conceal the stolen items. Three
additional suspects—Basiru Lawali from the Kuffa area, Murtala Tijani from
Kwanni, and Abubakar Umar from Gangaren Kuffa—were apprehended as receivers of
the stolen goods. All stolen items were recovered.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, commended the officers involved in the operation and acknowledged the public’s cooperation. He urged citizens to continue supporting the police for improved service delivery and assured that the suspects would be diligently prosecuted.
