Wednesday, January 15, 2025 - An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, has sentenced a 23-year-old security man, David Nanbur, to six months imprisonment for stealing mattresses worth N450,000 from his employer’s house.
Nanbur, had pleaded guilty to a three-count charge bordering on stealing
and malicious damage.
The Magistrate, Mrs M.M Olagbenro, convicted the defendant and sentenced
him to six months imprisonment.
She held that the convict should serve six months at the correctional
center or pay an option of N30,000 fine to the Oyo State Government.
The magistrate also gave an option of one month’s community service to
the convict.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Foluke Adedosu, told the court that on Jan.
5, at about 11.50 am, at Babalola Estate, Odo-Ona Elewe area, Ibadan, the
convict broke into the house of his employer, one Mr Yusuf Kunle, with an
intent to steal.
He said, the convict maliciously damaged the ceiling of the house valued
at N30,000 to gain access and stole three mattresses valued at N450,000.
She said the offences contravened Sections 390 (9), 412 and 451 of the
Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State.
