Thursday, January 30, 2025 - Operatives of the Cross River State Police Command have rescued a 25-year-old woman, Faith ‘Mercury’ Edu, who was abducted by a notorious kingpin, Michael Aboko, also known as “father,”
Edu was
rescued by the command's Anti Kidnapping Squad about midnight on Tuesday,
January 28, 2025, at Edem Street Off Garden Street in Calabar South after she
raised an alarm on Facebook that she was kidnapped.
It was
gathered that Edu was abducted on January 21, 2025, by Aboko, who is on the
run, and spent a week being brutalized until her rescue.
She was
reportedly rescued in a frail state and is currently receiving medical
attention while the police are on a manhunt for the culprit.
A graduate
of Banking and Finance from the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Technology,
Kaduna, Edu had taken to her Facebook page to raise alarm of her
kidnapping.
She shared a second long video of a wire mesh and called for help, describing where she was kept. She said she was using a device used for registering sim cards to post.
“Sos I’ve
been kidnapped and physically abused a at garden behind watt market am posting
from a pos cause the kidnapper is asleep his name is father’ go to Atatapa
police station the street opposite garden church where redeem is. ask the local
to direct the police the person has been hitting me with a cutlass since 4
please contact my family on 0803$$$$$$.I can’t reply messenger so am using chrome
from the post the use to defraud people please am bleeding call my mom . Am
behind Mariah just go to atapa police station and ask of garden were the sell

kidnapper name is father please help,” she wrote.
It was
gathered that she had left her friends when the suspect met up with her and
threatened her to follow him or he, alongside his colleagues, will have their
way with her and kill her.
She is
said to have followed and was locked up for days where she was
brutalized.
