Friday, January 17, 2025 - The Delta State Police Command has arrested two serial car snatchers/murd£rers in the state.
The suspects, identified as Junior Emmanuel, 33, and Julius Samuel, 28, are
said to have solicited the service of cab drivers only to k!ll them and take
their car.
They were nabbed after they took some stolen vehicles to a scrap yard in
Warri to sell.
The scrap dealers suspected foul play and alerted the police, leading to the
arrest of the suspects, who allegedly confessed to the crime.
Announcing the arrest in a statement, the Delta State Police said:
"On the 15th of December 2024, a lady (name withheld) reported Ekpan
Police station that on the same date, at about 2014 hours, while she was
standing in front of ShopRite, two boys approached her and negotiated the sum
of 50,000 and took her to one club.
"After the club, they invited a cab man, and the cab man took them
to one bar at Osubi.
"They instructed the cab man to go to Aziza junction in Warri Sapele Road,
upon getting there, to her surprise, one of the suspects brought a rope from
his pocket and used it to str@ngle the driver while in motion and she was
beaten and asked to bend her face down.
"After k! lling the driver, they dragged the driver out and then
abandoned the girl in the bush.
"On the 26th of December, the same syndicate also attacked another cab
driver in Benin, but the cab driver escaped abandoning the vehicle with
them.
"Consequently, on 2nd of January 2025, the syndicate brought the
car stolen in Benin to a scrap yard in Warri to sell.
"The scrap dealers who were suspected called the DPO Ekpan who came
and arrested them.
"The two suspects Junior Emmanuel ‘m’ age 33yrs and Julius Samuel ‘m’ age
28yrs confessed that they were serial car snatchers and were the ones who
murd£red the cab man at Osubi on 15th December 2024.
"The two vehicles have been recovered from them."
