Wednesday, January 15, 2025 - Arsenal on Tuesday provided an update on Gabriel Jesus after the striker sustained an injury.
The Premier League north London club disclosed this in a statement on
their website.
The Brazilian international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament
injury in his left knee during Arsenal’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester United on
Sunday.
The former Man City star was substituted during the encounter at the
Emirates Stadium as the Gunners lost 5-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
He was replaced by Chelsea loanee Raheem Sterling after 40 minutes of
the match.
“Gabby will undergo surgery in the coming days and will soon begin his
recovery and rehabilitation programme,” Arsenal’s statement read.
“We will continue to keep everyone updated with Gabby’s recovery, with
everyone at the club fully focused on supporting Gabby to ensure he is back to
full fitness as soon as possible.”
Jesus’ latest injury is a major setback for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The Premier League north London club may be forced to sign a new striker
during the January transfer window as a result of Jesus’ injury.
