Wednesday, December 11, 2024 -Men of the Nigerian Police Force in collaboration with a private security outfit engaged by the Kogi State Government, have arrested four suspected kidnappers and rescued 10 victims in the Ajaokuta area of the state.
The state Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, who disclosed
this in a statement on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, said the arrest and
rescue operation marks a significant step in the ongoing fight against
insecurity in Kogi, underscoring the administration’s determination to protect
its citizens and rid the state of criminal elements.
The commissioner also commended the swift and decisive action of the
security teams.
“The kidnappers, who had been terrorising the Ajaokuta area for a while,
committing heinous crimes such as kidnapping, rape, and armed robbery, were
apprehended following credible intelligence,” Fanwo said.
According to Fanwo, the state government had engaged Base SAN Security
Nigeria Limited, a registered private security firm, to work in synergy with
conventional security agencies in tackling the rising wave of crime in the
area.
“The operation resulted in the arrest of the four kidnappers and the
rescue of 10 victims abducted by the gang across various parts of Kogi
East."
Fanwo revealed that the arrested suspects are cooperating with
investigators, while arrangements are underway to reunite the rescued victims
with their families
“We can confirm that the efforts of the Ododo administration in engaging
duly registered security outfits to support traditional security agencies are
yielding positive results. This successful operation underscores the value of such
partnerships,” he added.
Fanwo further praised the collaboration between the Kogi State Police
Command and the security firm highlighting their professionalism in executing
the operation.

reaffirmed the commitment of the governor to making the state one of the safest
in the country
“Governor
Ododo has vowed to leave no stone unturned in ensuring Kogi remains a safe
haven for residents and travellers.
“The
Ajaokuta breakthrough is a stern warning to criminal elements across the state
that this administration is resolute in its mission to eradicate crime,” Fanwo
said.
He
also thanked the security agencies involved, pledging the government’s
continued support in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
