Sunday, December 08, 2024 -The Nigerian Navy has pledged to extend more support and collaborations to the Cross River State Tanle Tennis Association to enable them produce more international champions.

Akinwande made the pledge when the Association, led by its Vice Chairman,
Bishop Usen Umoh called on him in his office in Calabar weekend.
Rear Akinwande said the Nigerian Navy is committed to encouraging sports
development not only in Cross River State but nationally.
He assured continuous collaboration so that the Association can
consolidate on current feats of producing world-class champions such as Offiong
Edem, the 6th time Table Tennis Oympian, and others that have made the state
and country proud.
Earlier, Bishop Umoh commended the navy for its support and
collaboration towards the development of table tennis in the state,
particularly in providing their sports hall for training since the early
eighties.
Umoh said. “Your dedication not only inspires our young athletes but
also strengthens the bond between the Nigerian Navy and the sporting community.
“As an Association, we remain committed to collaborating with the
Nigerian Navy in promoting table tennis as a sport through joint initiatives
and shared efforts.
“We’re elated by the Nigerian Navy’s demonstrates and shared commitment
to promoting sports development in the state.”
Umoh informed the navy boss of the upcoming plans year-end tournament
tagged “Calabar Table Tennis Challenge” held this coming weekend at UJ Esuene
Stadium Calabar.
The Association had requested the Navy’s collaboration and attendance at
the tournament.
