Friday, December 06, 2024 -In a dramatic turn of events on Friday morning, heavily armed security operatives blocked Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II from attending a royal ceremony in Kano State.
The Emir,
who was scheduled to preside over the presentation of a staff of office to the
new District Head of Bichi, was allegedly prevented from leaving the Kano
Emir’s Palace.
It’s been
alleged that the security personnel, including those in armoured vehicles, were
stationed at the palace entrance, ordering the Emir to remain indoors.
A source
within the Kano Emirate revealed that the Emir has been making calls to
ascertain the reasons behind the action. However, no official explanation has
been provided as of the time of reporting.
Adding to
the tension, a delegation sent by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to the
Emir’s palace was also allegedly denied access by the security operatives.
Meanwhile, the event venue in Bichi, where the coronation was to take place,
was similarly cordoned off.
This
development has raised questions and concerns across Kano State, with many
awaiting clarification on the unfolding situation.
