Tuesday, December 03, 2024 -The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Public Affairs, Temitope Ajayi has slammed Governor Babagana Zulum.
Ajayi was reacting to the interview granted by Governor Babagana Zulum
of Borno State over the weekend on Channels Television.
Ajayi accused Zulum of lying about the controversial tax reform bills of
President Bola Tinubu.
Temitope Ajayi, said that contrary to Governor Zulum’s claim that some
agencies of the government would be scrapped if the bill is passed, no such
proposition is contained in the bill. Ajayi accused Zulum of misleading the
public. He stated that no part of the bill recommended the scrapping of the
Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), National Information Technology
Development Agency (NITDA), and National Agency for Science and Engineering
Infrastructure (NASENI).
He emphasized that the Tax Reform Bill, when passed, would help the
economy’s growth. He advised stakeholders to withdraw from spreading
misinformation about the bill.
According to a post on the official social media handle of Temitope
Ajayi, the President's Media Aide insisted that some of the claims by Governor
Zulum about the Tax Reform Bills are not true.
Temitope Ajayi had written, "A professor and governor of a
state should not be on a national television to propagate what is not true.
There is no part of the Tax Reform Bills that recommends scrapping of TETFUND,
NASENI and NITDA by year 2029 as claimed by Governor Zulum in his Channels TV
interview with Seun Okinbaloye".
"In any public debate around these four Bills before the National Assembly, there should be no place for misinformation and deliberate falsehood. It is expected that these important reform bills will generate different reactions and views but commentators and various interest groups should endeavor to keep to the facts as contained in the Bills."
