Friday, November 22, 2024 - The Jigawa State Hisbah Board says importation, sale and consumption of alcohol remain prohibited in the state.
Commandant of the board, Ibrahim Dahiru disclosed this on Thursday while
responding to questions from newsmen.
He said the move was part of the state government’s commitment to reform
the board and reduce social vices in the state.
Ibrahim explained that in continuation of its operations, the command
seized 78 cartons of assorted alcoholic drinks in Kazaure Local Government
Area.
He said the alcohol was seized at three beer parlours during an early
morning raid in the area.
The commander said no arrest was made during the operation, as suspected
owners fled before the arrival of the Hisbah personnel.
He noted that the command would continue to enforce the order and arrest
violators.
Ibrahim said the confiscated items would soon be taken to court.
