Friday, November 8, 2024 -The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has officially declared nine individuals wanted in connection with terrorism and violent extremism activities in Nigeria’s North East region. This announcement was made by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, during a briefing in Abuja.
The
individuals declared wanted are: Abu Khadijah, Abur Rahman, Dadi Gumba, Abu
Yusuf, Musa Wa’a, Usman Kanin Shehu, Ibrahim Suyeka, Ba Sulhu, and Idris
Taklakse.
The
declaration comes amid intensified military operations in the region, where the
armed forces have been working to counter terrorist threats and safeguard
national assets. Recent efforts have seen significant successes, including the
foiling of multiple terror plots, the elimination of 192 terrorists, and the
arrest of 341 others in just one week. In addition, troops recently rescued
three kidnapped victims in Benue state, underscoring the military’s commitment
to combating insecurity nationwide.
This
move also follows the commendation from the Ministry of Defence to DHQ for
securing the release of an abducted health worker and her nephew, reflecting
the broader campaign to restore stability in affected areas.
The DHQ
urges citizens to provide any information that may aid in the apprehension of
these individuals, as efforts to secure peace and stability in the North East
continue.
