Saturday, October 19, 2024 -Late singer Mohbad’s childhood friend, Ibrahim Owodunni, popularly known as ‘Primeboy’, has sued the Nigeria Police Force over an alleged violation of his fundamental human rights.
The
lawsuit was filed at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on October 11,
2024.
The
Lagos State Police Command declared Primeboy wanted on October 4, 2023, over
failure to honour its invitation amid investigations into the tragic death of
Mohbad.
Following
the declaration, Primeboy surrendered himself to the police the following day.
However,
in a statement issued by his lawyer, Akinpelu Ogunbona, on Thursday, October
17, Primeboy is seeking a court order to have the police remove his name from
the wanted list, noting that the special police bulletin declaring him wanted
“violates his right to dignity and respect as a human being.”
Ogunbona
explained: “Primeboy has sued the police via an originating motion filed on
October 11 before the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.
“His
prayers to the court include a declaration that the special police gazette
bulletin issued by the office of the IGP declaring Primeboy wanted was a
contravention of Primeboy’s right to respect for the dignity of his human
person.
“Also,
Primeboy prayed the court to delist his name from the wanted list amongst other
prayers.”
This comes a few days after Primeboy threatened a lawsuit against Mohbad’s mother, Abosede Adeyemo-Aloba for defamation.
