Sharing a photo of late Yahya Sinwir, Ahmad wrote; “He was born, lived
and died a leader!”
Recall that the Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar, was k!lled by Israeli forces, ending a year-long hunt for the mastermind of the 7 October attack on Israel that triggered the war in Gaza.
The Israeli foreign minister, Israel Katz,
confirmed reports on Thursday, October 17, in a message sent to counterparts
around the world. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said almost immediately after
Katz’s statement was reported by Israeli media that Sinwar had been
“eliminated”.
His de@th is a major boost to the Israeli military and the prime minister,
Benjamin Netanyahu, as the latest in a string of high-profile assassinat!on of
enemy leaders in recent months.
Hamas is a militant movement that has controlled the Gaza Strip for nearly two
decades. It rejects the existence of Israel, which it claims is occupying
Palestine. In October 2023, Hamas attacked southern Israel, k!lling nearly
1,200 people and taking more than 200 hostages. In response, Israel declared a
war aimed at eradicating the group. The conflict has killed more than
forty-thousand people as of October 2024, according to Palestinian officials in
Gaza.
Dozens of countries, including the United States, have designated Hamas a
terror!st organization over the years, though some apply this label only to its
military wing.
